WITH EDWARD FUDGE
God has put on Edward's heart . . .
Our Man in Heaven: Jesus in the Epistle to the Hebrews – In Jesus Christ, God became man, one of us, to reconcile us to himself. Jesus who is deity incarnate is now our man . . . at God’s right hand in heaven. There he intercedes for us until he comes again to take us to himself! If preaching is “bragging about Jesus,” this is solid preaching for sure! (Two or three presentations.)
The Purpose & Duration of Spiritual Gifts – The end of the world has begun but it has not fully come. We now live in two Ages that overlap – the present age and the age to come. This gap between Jesus Christ’s first coming and his future final coming is the long-prophesied time of the Holy Spirit, whose task is to transform God’s people into Christ’s likeness. To this end, God gives spiritual gifts – “grace-gifts” – charismata to his people. Because their purpose extends until Christ’s final coming, so do all the grace-gifts as well. Edward shows that “joy” (chara) and “grace-gifts” (charismata) go together. (Three or four presentations.)
God’s Guidance of the Believer – From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells a story of the God who relates personally to those who trust and follow him. He interacts with them and guides them personally through life, day by day, in decisions and circumstances large and small. Edward draws from the Scriptures and personal examples to show how we “tune in” to God’s guidance, learn to recognize his “voice” and follow his divine leading. (Two or three presentations.)
God Who Heals – Christ’s atonement is for the whole person – body, soul and spirit – and all God’s people will eventually experience perfect healing and wholeness. Even now, God sometimes heals -- when and how it pleases him. Edward’s balanced biblical teaching relates healing to such major Scripture themes as Creation, Fall, Atonement, Holy Spirit and Last Things. (Three or four presentations.) Recommended to Include an inspirational, tasteful service of healing prayer and anointing with oil if desired.
The Fire that Consumes: a Biblical & Historical Study of the Doctrine of Final Punishment – Popular tradition says that God will make the wicked immortal and then torment them forever. The Bible says the wicked will “die,” “perish” and “be destroyed” in hell, and never be seen again. If that is so, where did the popular doctrine come from and why is it held by so many? Does it really make any difference which view we hold? Edward is the author of the 500-page book The Fire that Consumes, recognized around the world as a standard reference on this subject. (Three or four presentations.)
Natural Evangelism – Reacting against impersonal and high-pressure methods of the past, many Christians today stay as far away from “evangelism” as possible. Edward presents biblical truth that makes sharing Christ a natural part of ordinary Christian living, under the sovereign power of God’s Holy Spirit. (Two or three presentations.)
Women’s Role in the Church – What does God call and enable Christian women to do in the church? Must all public service be limited to men? Can women scripturally preach, teach, spiritually shepherd? Beginning with Genesis, then focusing on Jesus and women, and finally considering key New Testament passages, Edward offers fresh perspectives from the ancient Bible. (Two or three presentations.)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the format of a Spiritual Growth Weekend? The format is flexible to meet the needs and fit the circumstances. Usually Edward presents two, three or four talks on Saturday, sometimes including a Q&A period. If the host is a church and wants Edward to preach a related sermon on Sunday morning, he is happy to do that.
Tell me more about the Healing Service. Several of the theme weekends recommend a formal Service of Healing Prayer and Anointing with Oil. This dignified, Scripture-based service is borrowed from the Anglican/Episcopal tradition. It fits very well on a Saturday evening but can also be scheduled on a Sunday. Edward leads this prayer service, either with or without Communion. Local pastors or elders are encouraged to participate in the anointing and prayer portion.
Who can host a Spiritual Growth Weekend? Any church, school, class, individual or group of individuals can act as host. We highly recommend that several churches (whether from the same or from different denominations) in an area jointly host a Spiritual Growth Weekend. This detail alone furthers Christian fellowship and unity in Christ, which is a major gracEmail goal.
What is the cost of a Spiritual Growth Weekend? There is no set price or charge for this ministry. We ask the host(s) to cover Edward’s travel costs, provide him meals and lodging for the weekend and make whatever donation they might sense that God directs.
Is Edward available for Sundays only without a Saturday program? Yes, that is also possible. Contact him at the following phone numbers to discuss your desires or needs.
What do I do next? Please prayerfully consider whether God would have your church or group host or co-host a Spiritual Growth Weekend with Edward. If so, contact Edward directly by email or call him at 713-659-5200 (days -- law office) or at 281-578-7837 (nights and weekends -- home).
