WHISPERS FROM GOD
In his latest book, The Key Place: An Ordinary Place to Meet an Extraordinary God (Leafwood. 208 pages, 2015), gracEmail subscriber Gene Shelburne shares memories of his special encounters with God in a special place known to very few.
When he bought the tiny house his mother grew up in, Gene Shelburne says, he could not imagine how much the Lord would bless him as this isolated getaway became his perfect retreat from a hectic world. “During quiet days beside our creek,” he writes, “I could read and rest and ponder life, and I found that God whispered to me there in a way he seldom did at home.” The truths that surfaced in that special place found their way into this book. FOX’S FINEST, GOD’S COMMITMENT
When Japan opened its doors to missionaries after the end of World War II, Harry Robert Fox and family were ready and waiting. Years of difficult ministry followed, during which Fox and his brother Logan were among the dozen men who founded Ibaraki Christian College. Now 94, Harry Robert Fox resides in a care facility in Utah, but though his body is bed-ridden his mind is still sharp.
Several weeks ago he expressed a wish that God would give him the time and strength to write what he is calling his final paper–and perhaps also his finest paper as well. Titled “God’s Unconditional Commitment to Us,” it combines substantial biblical exegesis with the author’s testimony to his own growth in experiencing God’s unconditional love–no strings attached. And, thanks to the kindness of a former student of Fox, you can have a copy of his final paper. Just send your request by email to: darleneadamg@yahoo.com
